(A Personal Story of Grace, Survival, Lessons, and Laughter Mixed With Wisdom)
My brother, my sister… if you ever sit down one day and begin to count how God has helped you, you will be shocked that you’ve been walking around with a whole encyclopedia inside your life. Let me tell you my own. If my life was to be written as a book, the title would be: “God Did It Again!” And the subtitle would be: “Even When I Didn’t Deserve It.”
Sometimes I look at myself in the mirror and laugh small. Because truly, if you know where I started, you will understand why I talk about God the way I do. If you know what I have passed through, eh? Your brain will tell you that this my survival is not intelligence—this is intervention. Divine intervention. The type that makes your village people sit down and ask: “Who be this boy wey no dey fall?”
Let me start explaining.
1. The Places I Should Have Failed… but God Said “Not My Son.”
There were moments in my life when everything looked finished. Not half-finished oh—FINISHED in capital letters. Times when I looked ahead and saw nothing but the kind of emptiness that makes you ask yourself: “Should I even continue?”
But somehow, somehow… God carried me as if I am His last born.
There were days money finished, strength finished, ideas finished, motivation finished—but God said, “Don’t worry. I will supply.” And He supplied. Not because I am the most righteous, or the most prayerful, or the most perfect—no. But because God is faithful even when we are confused.
I’ve seen God show up at the last minute like a Nigerian movie twist. You know that scene where everything is about to scatter, then suddenly the hero appears? Yes. God has been the hero in my movie many times.
2. God Saved Me From Myself
Let me confess: some of the battles in my life were not from the devil—no. They were from me. My own mistakes. My stubbornness. My “let me try it my own way” attitude. My overconfidence. My wrong decisions. My “I can handle it” when I couldn’t handle anything.
But guess what?
Even in those moments, God rescued me as if I was a toddler about to fall inside a gutter.
There are times I look back and ask myself:
“So I really survived that season?”
And God whispers,
“Yes. I carried you through it.”
If God allowed me to face the consequences of everything I did, eh? Maybe by now I would have been giving motivational speeches from under the bridge. But grace covered me like a bulletproof vest.
3. The Silent Seasons Where God Was Working Behind the Scenes
Ehn… this one. This is where God shocked me the most.
Some seasons in my life were so quiet that I started thinking God forgot my address. Things were so slow that even my shadow started asking: “Oga what is happening?”
But later—when the breakthrough started showing small small—I discovered something powerful:
God was working behind the scenes when it looked like nothing was happening.
In those moments when I thought God was silent, He was actually arranging, aligning, repairing, redirecting, removing, replacing, rebuilding, restructuring… everything “re-re-re” you can imagine.
God was busy constructing the kind of future that I wasn’t even mature enough to pray for.
4. God Helped Me When I Had No Helper
Let me tell you a truth you already know but maybe forgot:
Sometimes the help you need won’t come from people.
It won’t come from friends.
It won’t come from family.
It won’t come from connections.
Sometimes—only God will volunteer.
There were days when I looked left and saw nobody. Looked right—nobody. Looked up—ceiling. Looked down—floor. No help anywhere. But somehow, God still stepped in.
God sent helpers I didn’t know.
Resources I didn’t expect.
Ideas that lifted me.
Strength I didn’t have.
Favour I didn’t earn.
Because when God says, “I will help you,” everybody else can rest.
5. The Times God Carried My Emotions
This one touches me deeply.
Because there were seasons I smiled outside but fought inside. I looked strong, I acted composed, I even laughed with people—but God knew the storm happening inside my heart.
And He didn’t condemn me.
He didn’t judge me.
He didn’t say “Be strong nah!”
He didn’t shout at me.
He comforted me.
He renewed me.
He strengthened me.
There were days I only survived because God refused to allow my emotions destroy me. Days when God held my heart like a fragile egg and said, “Don’t worry. Healing is coming.”
6. God Kept Me When Life Didn’t Make Sense
You see those moments when everything looks upside down?
When you analyze your life like mathematics and nothing adds up?
1 + 1 = 11
2 + 2 = “God abeg”
3 + 3 = “What is going on?”
Those times? God held me.
When life was confusing, God became my clarity.
When life was dark, God became my light.
When life was heavy, God became my carrying strength.
If I tell you everything God saved me from, you will think I’m exaggerating. But truth is, God knows how to rescue you quietly. The world thinks you are lucky, but you know it is not luck—it is mercy.
7. The Unexpected Victories God Gave Me
There are battles I didn’t fight—but I won.
There are problems I didn’t solve—but they solved themselves.
There are accusations that died by themselves.
There are attacks that bounced back without me lifting a finger.
Sometimes God fights for you without informing you.
Later you begin to see the results and say,
“Wait… when did this battle end?”
God: “While you were sleeping.”
Because God does not brag. He just works.
8. God’s Blessings That Don’t Look Like Blessings Immediately
This one is deep.
There were situations I cried about—but later thanked God for.
Heartbreaks that saved me.
Disappointments that redirected me.
Delays that protected me.
Closed doors that became testimonies later.
Some things God removed from my life were not losses—they were deliverance.
Sometimes God subtracts before He multiplies.
9. God Kept Opening Doors I Didn’t Knock
One thing I’ve seen in my life is this:
God’s favour can embarrass your hustle.
You can try and try and try, but one moment of God’s help can achieve what 10 years of struggling cannot achieve.
There are opportunities I got that I did not chase.
Connections I made that I didn’t pursue.
Blessings I received that I didn’t plan for.
People who liked me for no reason.
That’s not charm.
That’s not strategy.
That’s not packaging.
That is Grace.
10. The Journey So Far Is Pure Testimony
Sometimes I sit down and think deeply:
How did I survive?
How did I grow?
How did I become who I am today?
How am I still standing?
How did things eventually align?
And the answer is simple:
GOD HELPED ME.
Not small help oh—full package.
Help in my body.
Help in my mind.
Help in my finances.
Help in my ideas.
Help in my purpose.
Help in my direction.
Help in my destiny.
Everything I am today, God carried me to it.
CONCLUSION — I AM A PRODUCT OF HELP
If you see me shining today, just know it is not by power or by might. It is not by “wise boy,” or “smart guy,” or “hard work.” I worked hard, yes—but God crowned the effort with favour.
If God removes His help from my life? I am finished.
But because His help is with me?
I am rising.
I am growing.
I am becoming.
I am expanding.
I am becoming a blessing to nations.
Everything about me screams one message:
“THE LORD HELPED ME.”
And if God helped me like this, then He will help you too.
Your story is not over.
Your breakthrough is not expired.
Your destiny is not cancelled.
As long as God is still on the throne, your life will still shock you with goodness.
This is my testimony.
This is my story.
This is my gratitude.
This is my journey.
GOD’S HELP SO FAR IN MY LIFE — and GOD’S HELP for the rest of my future.
Amen.
